I have been using the DigiQ for several years now. I consider it a must for anyone who is using their charcoal cooker for long cooks at low (200-250 Degree F) temperatures. With charcoal cooking, one of the hardest things is to get your charcoal properly lit and then not have your dome temperature be way hotter than you wanted it to be for what you are going to cook - meaning you have to leave the lid closed and wait until the temperature drops back to your desired temperature. With the DigiQ, problem solved... I put my electric starter in the charcoal for about 5 minutes, then pull it out, close the lid and turn on the DigiQ - a few minutes later, the cooker is at the temperature I want it to be at and will stay there until my cook is done or until the cooker runs out of charcoal... You have seperate probes that monitor both the meat temperature and the dome temperature. You can program the DigiQ to lowers the pit temperature as food temperatures approach the done setpoint so the food never overcooks. Depending upon what type and size of charcoal cooker you use, the recommended draft fan size and the fan adapter needed will vary, so do a little homework before you purchase.

All that Mac said! I don't know how I lived without it. Actually, yes I do. For long overnight cooks, I would get up 3 or 4 times to check out the cooker. Would even set an alarm clock. Never could get the cooker set right because the outside temperature changes throughout the night. Even for day long cooks, I was always going over to double check. Now all I do is set the DigiQ and walk away.

I had a couple of problems with this product, Digi Qx2. First, the glass fell out of the LED. The first time, BBQ Guru sent me a new one immediately so customer service was good. However, the second time, I had to send them the product and I was without it a couple of weeks while they glued it back together. I'm very careful with this product. I think they used bad glue for the glass that did not hold up to cold temperatures. My second problem is that both probes stopped working. I emailed them and did not get a response for about two weeks and after two emails. During that time, I took the plastic casing off and found that the wire was not soldered on the probe well and it disconnected. After no response, I soldered the wires myself and it seems to be running fine. A little disappointed in the quality when you pay a high price for this product. I have had the digi Qx2 for about 6 or so months. I asked them to send me new ones. They want me to send them mine, which will shut down my cooking for a couple of weeks. :(
