I frequently purchase books through Amazon and this is the first time that I've had such a polarizing experience that I felt compelled to write a review. There is nothing to this book. As a new Egg owner, I was hoping this book would contain some helpful hints (unique to the Egg) on how to prepare coals in order to get the desired temperature, cooking duration, etc. for food preparation on the Egg. Instead, I received a book with a few marginal recipes that contains ZERO "how to" advice on any topic outside of how to construct an Egg out of the box. If you have any prior grilling knowledge (gas, charcoal or otherwise) save your money. This is no more useful than the assembly instruction provided on the manufacturer's website.

1This is not worth the money

I read through this book in less than 30 minutes, while it gives a broad overview of cooking on the egg, it is missing the details to make this a useful cookbook. I purchased this hoping to find out more information about smoking temperatures, and what type of chips to use. The smoking chip descriptions were very standard, if you go to any BBQ place, the same descriptions are typically printed right on the bag of chips. I was hoping this book was created by an egghead, but after reading the recommendation of keeping a spray bottle of water near by for flareups I quickly realized this person has never cooked on an egg before! You NEVER use a spray bottle for flareups, you use your damper controls to eliminate flareups. Using water inside of a hot ceramic cooker is NOT RECOMMENDED! Go to the big green egg website and forum, there is more useful information and it's free, the only downfall is it takes a while to sift through the forum site. I would not recommend this book for purchase.

As I said in my comment to Pat's review, this kindle book is not worth the almost 9 bucks that I paid for it. Very generic information, it even talks about gas grills in one part! Would recommend not to buy this one :(
